Moonpig market research is carried out in accordance with current market research codes of conduct and Data Protection Laws.  Respondent responses  will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Anonymised data will be gathered at aggregate level and stored securely and used for market research purposes only.

Before any research can take place, Moonpig is required to fully inform the respondent about how their contribution will be used and what is expected of them as a respondent. When you are recruited to take part in market research, we will address the following:

  • Purpose of research

  • Method of research (e.g. survey)

  • The length of research interview

  • Incentive & amount (cash, bank transfer, credit or voucher or prize draw)

  • What data will be collected e.g. written, audio or visual

  • How the data will be stored

Confidentiality of Information and/or Materials:

  • The aim of any research is to gain your views for market research purposes and is not intended to be promotional

  • You have the right to withdraw from any market research at any time - by doing this, you remove your consent to us using your data to inform that specific research

  • During our research projects, confidential, and proprietary information relating to products, services and their development may be disclosed.  By participating, you agree to keep all such information confidential, and not disclose it to other parties, nor to use it for any other purpose other than completing the research study.

Recording of data

  • Any material will be kept confidential and used for market research purposes only

Moonpig privacy notice can be found here

How do I take part in  market research with Moonpig? From time to time, we run a recruitment survey via our website, so most of our research community members have signed up this way. We run an ‘opt in’ every 12 months and members can unsubscribe anytime.

Otherwise, you can contact [email protected] and if we are currently recruiting, we will share a survey with you to register as a member.

Within this community, we run different types of research including:

  • Focus groups, one to one interviews (online, face to face at a research facility, over the phone or in your own home)

  • Usability studies or online projects (e.g. surveys, usability testing, diaries)

Once we have a research project up and running, some of our community members will receive an email with details to take part.

How often will I be contacted to take part in market research? If it looks like you fit our criteria for that specific research, we will email you with an invite to take part. So that we don’t annoy you with too many email invitations, you will receive one max per week from the Moonpig Research team - and you can Unsubscribe anytime.

We will only invite a subset of community members so that we can ensure a representative mix of respondents each time. So don't be disheartened if you don't hear from us for a while - we’re either not running any research or, we’re rotating across our community members.

Above all, you can choose what you take part in.

  • For surveys, you can complete as soon as we send you an invite. Once we reach the max number of respondents, the survey link will ‘close’. We do this so we can capture feedback and run our prize draws within the agreed time.

  • For qualitative research e.g. face to face interviews, you will answer a few screening questions via a short survey (to check you qualify), and then we’ll select a few people to take part. Unfortunately, not everyone can take part but we usually make a note of people who are particularly interested in this type of research so we know who to ask next time!

How do you choose who takes part in research with a small number of customers?

Depending on our research questions, we often look for very specific people (e.g. one week it could be app users, the next it could be people who have bought flowers from us).

We try not to invite too many people at once but we recommend that you reply as quickly as possible as we usually limit the number of responses e.g. small focus groups.

Whatever the reason, please don’t get disheartened. We want as many people as possible to take part in our market research so leaving a gap between each project you take part in helps gives everyone a chance to take part!

GDPR: Is my data safe?

Whatever type of research you take part in with Moonpig.com Limited, rest assured that we will never pass your data to any third party. We follow the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018. We are registered with the ICO, our registration number is Z4843659. For more information on your rights and how we process data, please see our Privacy Notice

For any market research, your responses will not be held in the same file as your personal data, without your permission. Research data is always separated from any personal data, and is stored anonymously at aggregate level.

All personal data you have shared with us e.g. email addresses are stored securely with only the research team able to access. Personal data is used to contact you about market research and also to pay incentives. Any other personal data captured will be on a project by project basis and deleted at the end of the project e.g. telephone number you have provided for us to contact you about the specific research.

When you take part in market research focus groups, one to one interviews (online, phone or face to face), it will likely be audio and/or video recorded. These recordings are to help with analysis and reporting later on and will not be used for external purposes - we will always ask for permission before we begin any recording.

Who am I dealing with at Moonpig?

Moonpig market research is managed by a teeny weeny in-house research team. No doubt, you’ll see their names on research invite emails. Our researchers are professionally trained in market research codes of conduct and moderating. So don’t worry, you’re in safe hands!

Occasionally, a colleague or two might like to speak to you directly or hear your feedback first hand, so you’ll no doubt get an opportunity to meet them from time to time (but we’ll always check if you’re happy with this first!).

How much will I be paid to take part?

This depends on what research is being undertaken. A survey will be a different payment to a face to face focus group. We base it on the amount of time you put in with taking part and align it with industry standards. The payment method will be decided on a project by project basis and reviewed regularly.

Currently, taking part and completing a survey will automatically enter you into a prize draw to win Moonpig credit (or Amazon vouchers if preferred). Amount and number of winners is dependent on sample size and length of survey. See details here on how our prize draws are managed.

Taking part in any other research (e.g. phone chats) will be decided on a project by project basis but will be one of the following (Moonpig credit or, if preferred, Amazon voucher.

If we haven’t been able to answer your questions please contact [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
