Artist Spotlight: Cat from Cat McInnes Illustration

G'day! My name's Cat and I'm a freelance illustrator based in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges of Melbourne, Australia with my husband and 2 kids.

After graduating, I worked as a graphic designer in a couple of studios, but I really hoped there was somewhere I could have a full-time job as an illustrator. In the meantime I’d have colleagues asking if I could do the odd illustration or two for them. Eventually I had a few clients I would illustrate for, and I realised that maybe I could actually work for myself! Customers spread the word and my client base grew larger. And Cat MacInnes Illustration was born!

My favourite Moonpig card I've made might be the “You’re saucier than a snag sanger!” card. I really enjoyed doing the Aussie food-themed cards. A sausage in bread is such a basic, non-fancy meal, so turning it into a romantic themed card was quite funny.

Artist Spotlight: Avi Gray from Erlenmeyer

I’m Avi Gray, an Australian illustrator living in Bristol in the UK.

I use fineliners and watercolour paints to create animal characters and detailed pictures of the society in which they live. I’m writing a book all about it! I love my cat, coffee, reading, celebrating and giving presents.

My favourite card from my range is called Baby Bathtime. It shows two new parent elephants and their baby having a bit of fun at bathtime.

My favourite Erlenmeyer character can be found on the back of my Moonpig cards - and is named McAllister. He’s an immortal raccoon, and the historian of the animal kingdom. He teaches the other animals all about how their world came to be, about Gaia (Mother Earth) and about us humans.
